That is hilarious. I will find it funny if fox greenlights a sequel because of the money from those markets

Hey Ripley, don't worry. Me and my squad of ultimate badasses will protect you! Check it out! Independently targeting particle beam phalanx. Vwap! Fry half a city with this puppy. We got tactical smart missiles, phase-plasma pulse rifles, RPGs, we got sonic electronic ball breakers! We got nukes, we got knives, sharp sticks...

Sequel is gonna happen. Prometheus still over performed for an R rated film.

    I wouldn't mind if Madagascar 3 ended on LV-426.

According to these guys, Prometheus is up to aproximately $61,257,452 on its 5th day of showing in the US. That's not including money made overseas. It only made 5 million on Monday and Tuesday, each. I imagine those numbers to shoot back up over the weekend.

"With no major blockbusters entering the market, three holdover titles dominated, with Prometheus
once again top of the pile. Second weekend takings of £3.14m represent a
50% drop from the opening frame, but the more flattering story is the
£9.24m it's grossed over the past seven days, to deliver a 10-day total
of £15.47m. For context, that's just behind the lifetime total of
Ridley Scott's Robin Hood (£15.65m), and ahead of Michael Fassbender's previous best lead role X-Men: First Class, which maxed out at £15.03m."

50% drop anyone care to make some projections about the us takings this week, i tend to think the drop wont be as severe due to the generally better response to movie in the US thoughs?

Still postive news, especially regarding a sequel.

I will be curious to see how it does with a more "star studded" even such as Rock of Ages (which in my opinion is a much weaker storyline).  With it being PG-13, it might draw a considerably larger crowd.  Madagascar 3 beat out Prometheus by what, $10m over the weekend?

This week Prometheus might haul in about $20-30m and go either second or third.

Let's hope the power of butt-rock isn't going to dethrone monster squids.

Oh believe me, I'm all down for Prometheus, I want that sequel as much as anyone else - the best I can do is cautious optimism and hope that it makes Fox executives happy for the sequel.   B-)

it really only works in live musical theatre because its interactive with the audience i.e.- the bartenders in the show serve  the audience drinks during intermission.  the cast encourages the audience to air guitar, things like that.  theres no substance to the piece as a film
You always were an asshole, Gorman!
  • I think it might do well consider that mama mia did pretty decent numbers in 2008

    (#2 rank, 2,976 theaters, $9,325 average)
    Opening Weekend: $27,751,240

its totals are pretty decent aswell.

    Total Lifetime Grosses

    Domestic:  $144,130,063    23.6% + Foreign:  $465,711,574    76.4% = Worldwide:  $609,841,637

Can I be Weyland?   if you are into musicals i recommend youtubing 'predator the musical'  this guy has recut movies and added his own lyrics and sampled the score. It is incredibly well done and also has many other films parodied.

If it bleeds we can kill it!
You're going out there to destroy them, right?
That's the plan. You have my word on it.
