Its actually labelled as RT03. I guess RT01 is model number and its ship identifier number is RT03. I kind of thought the model identifier should be RT.

At some point in time in the future, maybe 20 years, sci-fi producers will be laughing at these designs. I mean, seriously, why does it even have wheels? Do they assume that the terrain will be easily traversed by a wheel design? It looks like a military tank for crying out loud. The design is about the same as in Aliens. Do they have science advisers and futurists on this film?For example, a machine like that would never ever be able to traverse a planet like Venus.~In space, no one can hear you scream, unless space is CGI~

Why does the vehicle need satellite-linked maintenance?
If this is a standard design, this might have no use on this mission but certainly it would be useful in other context.
Maybe the Prometheus left a satellite in orbit before landing? However, why would they need to do this? Doesn't make sense.
Maybe the link-up is to a mothership in orbit?

The link could be for computer software. But then again you would have to have a relay somewhere in order to make the connection and that would be a satellite somewhere between two points. David is a walking computer, the systems on the ship are undoubtedly state of the art computer systems...The list goes on.
But I do agree Thoth it doesn't make sense.

Weather sat, remote imaging, put up 4 and you can have gps. Being able to remotely drive an RT when its empty or the crew is disabled would be pretty handy too.My hot dog has a first name. It's es pee yew en kay.

The surface pressure and heat on Venus would kill you, but say the vehicle is pressurized, okay what if it were to land on a world like Io. This moon of Jupiter is way too volcanic and exposed to so much radiation from Jupiter that it would be a nightmare place to land as well, if you could even traverse it.The titanium shell could survive the heat, but the electronics wouldn't be able to unless they were cooled some how.~In space, no one can hear you scream, unless space is CGI~
