PROMETHEUS THE DAWN OF A NEW AGE IN CINEMA!!!
  • Forget the Dark Knight Rises Prometheus will be the game changer in the film industry. Nolan's a Hack next to the genius of Ridley Scott!!! Who agrees with me!!!
  • Ridley's one of the few directors alive today that is a visionary director. His films are visual eye candy with engrossing stories attached to them. He's dedicated to making amazing films. Although the last ridley film i liked was gladiator 13 years ago. I hope prometheus turns out to be spell bounding like alien or blade runner.
Nolan is a great director and uses more practical effects than cgi in his films. He's nothing compared to ridley right enough but still a great director. the problem isnt directors it's the writers. not too many scripts out there that are awe inspiring and the one's that are usually end up in the hands of the wrong person.
Ridley turned a B-movie monster movie into a A-movie with alien. I have high hopes for prometheus and ill even pay 3D just to see it.
My only concern is 20th century fox who are renowned bullies and butchers of films. Hope they dont turn it into a PG-13.
but the year of 2012 is certainly Ridley Scott's year no matter how many films out gross it.

I @HollywoodRape. I think that we cannot be so religious about the subject. OMHO any artistic work (music, painting, poertry or whaterver) yes it could be classified but the taste of one or another could label it as good or bad. What I identified in hollywood lately is an enormous scarce of new ideas so even with the TV they are pointing towards "reallity-tied" plots. No mention this indistry fell in to the wave of the economic melt down, piracy, strike of writers, compention (when apply) of the video game industry and so one.
I think also that is more accurate  extract portions of that every artistic work and either appreciate or dislike it. i.e. what I admired from the Nolan movies about Batman is that they avoid the "cartoonished" character (so its made in the late Bond movies). From Batman begins I liked the mystic part but no much the other half.
Probably what you could agree with me is that this industry has to redefine itself in the dawn of new technologies and even in a new changes on the geopolitical world.

  • new bond movies are a laugh. casino royale was amazing but could have done without the outrages unrealistic stunt action scenes liek the crane. I'd prefer a more serious less action and more story driven film. quantim of solace was basically just jason bourne with an english accent. all shaky camera work and shit.
batman begins and dark knight were good films. i dont like judging without watching but dark knight rises has all this flying futuristic vehicles. their trying to make it a little too epic for its own good. but hopefully its worth the hype

I liked the Dark Knight, but I liked Begins better for several reasons. One, I cared more about Bruce Wayne as Bruce, and Bats didn't get completely overshadowed by the villain, like he did in the Dark Knight. Also, he killed- correction, didn't save Ra's al Ghul, in Begins, but saved the Joker in Dark Knight. I don't care what the reason for him doing that was, it was still incredibly stupid, and if that means Batman is a flawed character because of it, that isn't making me like him. In fact, it makes me dislike him - a lot. I hope he saves Bane in Rises and they all sit down - him, the Joker and Bane - and have tea.

Edit: Casino Royale was good, but the film stopped dead in its tracks after Bond is saved. The climax is very good, however, and picks up the pace, again, but that "let's be happy and act like a couple!" bit grates on my nerves.

  • i just dont like 007 films cause im a huge 007 novel fan. if you look at ian flemmings sketch of bond; bond actually looks like jason issacs or michael fassbenger (cant spell his sir name)

but i truly hope ridley excites me with prometheus. I hope its a Gladiator styled epic cinematography and a blade runner type mythology and toppled with an Alien like horror story

Honestly the Dark Knight and Alien are two completely different sub-genres and its a bit pointless to compare them. If Ridley tried his hand at the Dark Knight, you'd probably get something in par with what Nolan has envisioned. I did think Inception was a bit overrated after subsequent viewings but nevertheless Nolan's done some great work. And Ridley has made some poor movies in the past, although it's probalby because he's experimented in just about every genre there is, and when you experiment as a film maker, you run the risk of playing away from what may be your strengths. Scifi is really what he should have stayed with. But it's like he said--he never really found a script he thought was good enough to make him return...until now.

  • No need for comparison. Both are gonna wet my panties. There's enough to go around.

Both are incredibly crafted film makers, if you ask me I prefer Ridley Scott, but Nolan is also great, there is no need to say that Nolan is Hack to stablish a preference... Anyway I must admit that I never had the hype I feel for prometheus with some other film... I belive this is going to blow our mind...

and I like to comment on something else... Ridley Scott is 75 years old... he wants to make a secuel for prometheus and then the Blade Runner project... and for I can see in Imdb he has a long list of films he is interested to produced... my point is I hope he will make prometheus secuel before anyother project and then the Blade Runner project...
The Counselor can wait... who gives a rat ass about the conselor anyway...

I think "The Counselor" is the next film up for Mr. Scott. I don't know the timeline for the Blade Runner sequel but it seems to be a bit further in the future. Isn't Fassbender to be in "The Counselor?
  • i truly hope they dont make another blade runner film. ridley talks about doing 5 films at once. the guy probably wont live for another 5-6 years, he might even die not long after this comes out. . . just saying lol

I think that if the Blade Runner sequel was fairly along in development then the studio or producers would hire another director if Ridley Scott was unavailable to do it. Its a certain money maker.

^ That would be worst scenario ever. Blade Runner sequel without Scott. My God.

I would guess that if Prometheus is very successful then there is likely to be a whole bunch of homages (ripoffs) of the theme in films over the next few years.
  • the whole mythology and mystery and beauty of the film blade runner will be ruinedwith sequels and prequels in my opnion

Paul Wonderfully Shit anderson tried to say that disgusting film 'Soldier' was set in the same universe. shame on him
